James, of the terrific blog Secret Forts, is one of those soft spoken guys that has this "old sage" like sensibility about him that you don't come across often. His calm, coolness could easily be transferred to film roles but luckily for us he is a connoisseur of craft and Americana. He visited our design studio recently to check our new digs and see some of our Spring 2011 looks.

“What you still need to know is this: Before a dream is realized, the Soul of the World tests everything that was learned along the way. It does this not because it is evil, but so that we can, in addition to realizing our dreams, master the lessons we’ve learned as we move toward that dream. That’s the point at which most people give up. It’s the point at which, as we say in the language of the desert, one dies of thirst just when the palm trees have appeared on the horizon. Every search begins with beginner’s luck and every search ends with the victor being severely tested."

"You can become blind by seeing each day as a similar one. Each day is a different one, each day brings a miracle of its own. It's just a matter of paying attention to this miracle."

- Paulo Coelho, from his best-selling book The Alchemist

I enjoyed this book very much and these quotes both speak volumes about each and every one of our 'Personal Legends.' We must all remember it's not just reaching our goals, no matter what they happen to be, but also what actions we used to attain them.

Billykirk 'Worn In' No. 17

Jing, one of our most loyal customers, recently posted her Tan No. 150 Claw Belt after 100 days of use. Looks to be wearing in perfectly.

Her blog, Hands On With X, is a great photo-journal of product shots mainly in an around Canberra, Australia. It's interesting to see all of her product finds intertwined with her daily activities which usually include expertly crafted espresso drinks, tasty meals and mouth watering snacks not available in the USA.

Billykirk 'Worn In' No. 16

Shaun Barneveld of the blog Port Authority LA just sent me an image of his 1 year old No. 155 Card Case in Tan. I must admit this is pretty damn close to perfection when it comes to the patina.

Billykirk Testimonial No. 8

"Just a quick note to say that the satchel arrived safely. More importantly, I wanted you to know that it's stunning. What a simple, strong design; and the quality of the materials is only surpassed by the workmanship. An added bonus is that my iPad fits perfectly, and with a gentle nudge the wireless keyboard joins it."

"I sense that in the years ahead the satchel will feel like an old friend. In the meantime, I look forward to what BillyKirk comes up with next!"
